Head to Walker and get some shaved ice from Fitz's Snoballs! They will be at the school from 5:30-7:30 pm, and 10% of your purchase comes back to the school!

We are excited to partner with One Community again this summer. They have a variety of summer programs and Walker will be one of the locations to attend. The Walker dates are June 19- July 31 from 9:00 am-11:30 am. Science Action Club will start at 9:00 and Feed your Brain will start at 10:30. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria at 11:30. We hope to see our Wildcats come and enjoy these programs this summer. The 2023 One Community summer programs include: Feed Your Brain, Alimenta Tu Cerebro-Bilingual Summer Reading program for the whole family! (Parson Hills, Walker, Jones Center, and OneCommunity’s Casita de Libros). Spanish Literacy for Heritage Speakers-Adults and Teens-Native speakers of Spanish will enhance their reading, writing, and communication in Spanish. (OneCommunity) Science Action Club-3rd-6th graders will learn to become citizen scientists while observing and identifying birds. (Parson Hills and Walker) Girl Scouts Troop 5113-this is a new bilingual troop that includes girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade. (OneCommunity) We are partnering with Crystal Bridges as they host a Bilingual 55+ Art Class on Tuesdays. (Jones Center)

Tonight is the night for our first Summer Spirit Night. Fitz’s Snoballs will be set up in the Walker Elementary parking lot with more than 40 fun flavors to choose from. 10% of all sales go back to Walker. Come out from 5:30-7:30 pm and support Walker PTA. Feel free to hang out on the playground and/or track while you enjoy your snowball. Please make sure to throw away all trash so we can keep our school clean. When? Monday, June 5th from 5:30-7:30 pm Where? We are hosting a Once Upon a Time book fair event at Walker in the library. All books are $1.00 each. This is a great time to get books for summer reading.

Attention 5th Grade Families, 5th Grade Little Olympics is tomorrow, Tuesday, May 23rd @ Harber High School from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. All students need to bring a water bottle from home. Students will need to either bring lunch from home or order lunch from the cafeteria. Concessions will open for students to purchase. All items and prices are listed below. Please send with your child if you would like for them to purchase concessions. Hot Dogs $1 Pickles $1 Nachos $2 Chips $1 Candy $1 Drinks $2 Parents are invited to attend. There will not be an entry fee for parents or guests.

Walker Parents- I am so excited about the kids singing the National Anthem today, Sunday, May 21st at the NWA Naturals Baseball game. Here are the logistics if your child will be singing. What to wear: Bright Yellow Walker t-shirt if you have one. Any Walker shirt if not. What time to arrive: Please start getting to the park around 1:00-1:15 so you can be in the meeting room in time. It does cost $5 to park. Cash or Card accepted. If using a card go through gate 2 or 3. Bags: It is a CLEAR BAG policy. You can use gallon size storage bags if needed. Where to meet: Northwest Health/Sams Community Room Go to the right after you enter the gates and you will see it. What time to meet by: Please be in that room by 1:20 because we walk down to the field at 1:40. Game Time: Game is at 2:00 After Singing: Kids will come up and we will meet in front of the building we were in before and sign out the kids to a parent. Go to the grade of oldest child. Attention Current 5th Grade Walker Families, Helen Tyson Middle School (HTMS) is hosting a Walk-Through Tour of the middle school to help your child prepare for next year. We hope you will join us tonight (Thursday, May 18th) from 5:00----6:30 p.m. This a great opportunity for you to see the school and meet some of the staff.

Walker students will be singing at the Natural's game on Sunday, May 21st at 2:00 pm. If you would like to have your child join us to sing, you can still get tickets. We are placing one last order tomorrow (Thursday, May 18th). Tickets are $9.00 each and each student singing will need a ticket as well as any adults who be attending.
