Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, a new Arkansas law - the Bell to Bell, No Cell Act - requires schools to strictly limit students' use of personal electronic devices during the school day. This includes cell phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, and other personal devices.
If Southwest students bring these items to school, they must be stored in the cell phone charging towers or in backpacks for the entire school day.
Last year, Southwest piloted a phone-free environment during instructional time. However, this new law extends the restriction to include the entire school day. If a parent or guardian needs to contact their student, they may call the office at 479-750-8849. We will relay the message to the student or have the student come to the office to use the phone. The office phone will also be available for students to use to call home if needed.
